A great recipe for a crowd!
Orange Breakfast Rolls
Dough:
1/2 Tbl. Yeast
3/4 c. 110 degree water
1/2 c. Honey
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening ( 1/4 c. shortening and 1/4 c. butter)
3 cups flour
1 tsp. Salt
Add water to yeast. Add honey, eggs, shortening and 2 cups of flour. Add salt and remaining flour. Add extra flour until dough pulls away from bowl. Knead 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise until doubled. Punch down and roll out into a large rectangle.
Filling:
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbl. orange juice
1/4 tsp. orange extract
Combine all the filling ingredients. Brush over the rolled out dough then roll up the rectangle like a jelly-roll. Cut into 1 1/2" widths. Place on a greased cookie sheet 2" apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes until golden brown.
Orange Glaze:
1 bag powdered sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
orange peel (optional)
Remove to serving tray and drizzle with Orange Glaze.
